As an interpreter, I am used to familiarising myself quickly with any new topic based on the preparatory material provided by the client and to applying the right technical terms.

Needless to say, there are topics I take a special interest in: development aid, international relations, the world economy, social sciences, education and politics. After all, I worked for thirteen years in the African and Latin American department at Kindernothilfe – a Duisburg-based charitable organisation. This work experience is useful in preparing related topics.

As a court interpreter and sworn translator, I am often required to deal with civil law and penal law issues.

In addition…

I specialise in translating all types of official documents, certificates and legal texts.

I also translate documents relating to development aid and/or human rights and children's rights.

I am frequently complimented on my ability to translate freely – i.e. catching all the nuances of the original but without producing a text that sounds like "translationese"!
